'Just joined NaBloPoMo for the first time (referred from Deb's site) and I'm going to start off with a real quickie. I have a whole catalog of dishes that I make and never blog about so expect some moldy oldies interspersed with new recipes and adventures this month.
I have to tip my hat to Molly at Orangette now because the moment I started reading her blog a couple of years ago (!), I started making a list of recipes of hers that I HAD to make. I haven't even come close to making half of them, but there are a couple that I've mentioned here. Here are two recent Orangette inspirations.
But I had the urge to do something super simple and opted for Orangette's Caramelized Cauliflower.
It was thrilling. I'm pretty sure roasting vegetables is my absolute favorite technique.
Sweet, buttery, and salty...little treasures in your mouth.
A month or so ago, I made these (Wednesday Chef's via Orangette) Rice-Stuffed Tomatoes:
(Please forgive the horribly blurry picture.)
I particularly appreciated the advice to throw in a few halved potatoes to roast alongside the tomatoes. I felt the tomatoes were tasty, but not spectacular. It was OK though, a simple entree for a simple early fall evening. Not every dish has to completely blow you away. Sometimes it's quite nice to just be satisfied and content.
As I hope you are with this post! 'Til tomorrow...
